Sauvignon Blanc 2021

DescriptionDetails

Cloudy Bay Sauvignon Blanc put New Zealand on the map with its captivating flavour. Our signature style is famous for its vibrant nose, mouthwatering palate and long finish. Stone fruit and citrus stand out, while minerality (think rain on river stones) provides balance. It’s a wine that ages gracefully for a decade or more - if you can wait that long.

Sauvignon Blanc 2021 taste description

Sauvignon Blanc 2021 is intense and vibrant. The nose is open, appealing and expressive, with ripe passionfruit, white peach and a hint of lime. The palate is deliciously concentrated and tropical, underpinned by nectarine and blossoms. Saline notes bring structure, while passionfruit and vibrant citrus acidity bring balance. The compelling finish encourages you to take another sip, and then another.

Sauvignon Blanc 2021 Flavour matching

Enjoy with

Sauvignon Blanc is a natural match for almost any seafood. Some of our favourites at the winery include tempura oysters, locally-caught sashimi, and steamed mussels with garlic, citrus and parsley.

It’s also a great match for green salads and goats’ cheese. A hint from us: if it goes with lemon, it goes with Sauvignon Blanc.

Sauvignon Blanc 2021 Winemaking

How it's made

Fruit from each vineyard ferments separately before blending, a critical step in maintaining Cloudy Bay’s famous consistency. Rather than blending to make more wine, the winemakers carefully select the right grapes (from over 90 batches) for each year’s wine. This means the quantity may change, but never the quality.

Our fruit

Vineyards and terroir

Our Sauvignon Blanc fruit comes largely from vineyards planted in Wairau Valley’s Rapaura, Renwick and Brancott Valley sub-regions. The area’s warm, dry maritime climate and free-draining gravelly soils are perfect for Sauvignon Blanc. Key blocks include the Estate, Motukawa, Widow's Block, Red Shed, and Mustang vineyards.

“It’s something that dances in the glass. It’s an exciting wine to make every year.”
